The green oak arrives !!

Wow, EXCITING ! EXCITING !
this is BEAUTIFUL, and god the smell of green oak... I just love it !
it took quite some sweating to offload it (everything is done by hand on this job) but it is all of the trailer.
sooooooo nice !

One wall was slightly encroatching over the boundary

The boundary is the black tapered wall that you can see on the bottom right.
Our wall is materialised by the flat brick. The wall in black is the beighbour's
My little scribbling on the picture shows you that once the wall is boarded and rendered, well we will be about 40mm over the boundary, on this 1m of wall... And our neighbour is not too happy about that. We could argue that honestly 4cm is not a lot to worry about, especially on this little stretch of wall, but there you go, her property is her property, her land is her land, she is fundamentally right so we've had to move the wall back 4cm !
We only want to keep everybody happy...

Timber frame walls

Update from Monday evening (yeah I know I'm late, obsolete posts are hardly the point of a blog, I'm letting down my followers, and I publicly apologise)
Anyway the walls are up, nice and sturdy !

Some b*stard wrecked my little 2cv :((((

I can't park it on the drive because we are using the aforementioned drive to store materials, skips, and so on. So I parked the car down the road, and noticed on Sunday while I was driving past that the 2cv wasn't sitting straight in its parking place. I thought, oh well, someone had a laugh and manually lifted it, how fun ! Not that fun after all, when you see what happened. Some f*ckr backed into it, leaving both driver side doors basically unusable, and the rear wing badly dented :((( (of course that person didn't leave their contact details...) Was it deliberate ? Was it an accident ? We'll never know. But the outcome is the same anyway.
Since then, I removed the wing, bashed it back in shape so it doesn't rub on the tyre anymore... The car basically works, it just looks a little less nice.
I'll have to do something about the doors, but in the meantime, I enter the vehicle from the passenger door...
My little car was once a nice looking classic...

Look at this beautiful job !
7 joists in, cut to size, chased into the wall, with the damp proof course around them.
All of this and more in one day, by one man, this Peter is a very valuable asset to this project !
Joists are all level and aligned, THIS is work as it should be !!

And finally, today's progress...

This is our almighty carpenter, we are really pleased with his work, he is good, works fast and to an exceptional standard !
Nice little workshop on our drive, la 2cv has to be parked out on the street :-(
