Thursday 3rd while I was away...

... in London, well they got things a little wrong !
One major ceiling beam was 10cm too low :-(
Anyway after much discussion and looking at the plans, I managed to convince them to re-set it where it should have been...
You can see that they already set it wrongly twice before (hence the 6 unused holes), oh well, we got there in the end.
I prefer not to think how much this trial-and-error method did cost me in labour time, but hey, the main thing is that we've got our 2m10 ceiling level in the kitchen, and that it did not take too long to get there.
2m10 is already a low ceiling (in line with the rest of the house though), but it is the best compromise and it gives us a nice headroom in the bedroom upstairs...

...But 2m, NO WAY !

Wed 2nd end of day status: Ceiling all gone...

... plus another bit of demolition went on (basically all the muck that they took away in the skip)
They even had to trim the top of our windows to make way for the big steel beam

Back to Wednesday...

Sorry for you faithful followers, did not update for a few days, but there is a lot in store for you !

First of all, the skip going away, full of various bits and bobs, mainly rubble and timber, glad to see it go anyway.
(luckily they did not pull down our main electricity cable, they skillfully maneuvered round it with the truck's telescopic arms, they were very close, though, look on the top left-hand corner of the picture...)

OK, let's start with a little game...

This game is called:
find the seven frogs in our pond :-)

Warning you though, one of them is hard/impossible to find on this less than average quality picture...

The roof is off !

Posted by Picasa
Oh God, this is kind of scary !
Up to me to remove the cold water tank and all the pipes that lead and come to and from it
Courtesy of my father in law, planning to extend the copper pipes with garden hose so the tank can be moved around out of harm's way.

Skip filling up quicky

All the rubble that came from the roof had to go somewhere...
